Deep Heat Heat Rub Review

                                     DEEP HEAT

New Deep Heat study reveals misery of muscle stiffness as we get older. One in three women aged over 45 suffer from aches most days.

Deep Heat helps warm away muscular aches & pains
A study conducted by the makers of Deep Heat has shown that muscle pain and stiffness affects the lives of millions of women in the UK causing daily discomfort and even affecting romance and sex. The research also shows that many women suffer without help, when there are effective treatments available.
The study shows that nine out of 10 women have suffered from muscle stiffness at some time with nearly one in three (32%) suffering either every day or most days. Unsurprisingly, the most commonly effected areas are the back and legs. Causes cited are being overweight, sitting at work, bad posture and stress. More than half of those quizzed said that stiffness had stopped them from doing activities and nearly a quarter said that muscular aches and pains have affected their sex lives.
When muscles feel stiff, it’s natural to want to rub them and this is beneficial for easing tension.
Deep Heat Heat Rub combines the benefit of massage with the effects of thermotherapy. It works directly at the site of pain to help stimulate circulation, relax stiffness and re-oxygenate tense, painful muscles to bring relief from pain. Almost three quarters of women in the study had tried Deep Heat and they described it as warming, pain relieving & comforting.
Deep Heat is available from most supermarkets and chemists and comes as a regular rub, maximum strength rub, spray or odourless patch.

Deep Heat Heat Rub, Deep Heat Heat Spray, Deep Heat Maximum Strength are medicines. Always read the label. Please see the website for more information

What is Deep Heat Rub?

Deep Heat Rub provides fast relief from muscular aches and pains, non-greasy cream which is rapidly absorbed by the skin and produces gentle warmth.

When can I use it?

you can use Deep Heat before exercising as part of your warm up regime, or 72 hours after an injury occurs to ease muscular aches. The rub uses heat therapy in a portable and easy to use format, and also contains eucalyptus oil and turpentine oil which help dilate local blood vessels, taking more heat, oxygen and nutrients to the muscles.
Especially good for:
  • Rheumatic pain
  • Sciatica
  • Lumbago
  • Sprains
  • Muscle stiffness

Size and RRP's ?

Deep Heat rub comes in 35g, 67g and 100g sizes with RRPs of £2.34, £3.54 and £4.69 respectively.

How does it work?

The penetrating warmth of products in the Deep Heat range helps stimulate circulation, relax stiffness and get oxygen back into tense, painful tissues and muscles.

Deep Heat Heat Rub has four active ingredients:

  • Methyl Salicylate
  • Eucalyptus Oil
  • Turpentine Oil
  • Menthol
Methyl Salicylic is an aspirin-like drug with analgesic properties. It is absorbed through the skin and hydrolysed to salicylic acid, which interferes in the synthesis of inflammatory prostaglandins from arachidonic acid.
Reducing local prostaglandin production reduces pain.
In addition the analgesia action is achieved by a counter-irritant mechanism of action, which helps to mask the perception of pain.
Eucalyptus Oil and Turpentine Oil help increase blood flow by dilating the blood vessel walls, so providing the muscles with more heat, oxygen and nutrients.
Together with Methyl salicylate, these oils act as counter-irritants, stimulating the heat receptors in the superficial nerve endings to help trigger cells in the nervous system to help trigger cells in the nervous system to transmit warmth signals to the brain. These signals compete with, and dilute, the pain signals arising from the damaged tissue.
The Menthol in deep Heat Heat Rub acts as a local anaesthetic by depressing the cutaneous pain receptors.

 Using Thermotheraphy
  • Increases circulation, bringing more blood to the area which provides more oxygen and nutrients, giving muscles more energy
  • Warms connective tissue (muscles, tendons ligaments) allowing them to stretch and move more easily which helps prevent injury
  •  Provides pain relief
  • Use as part of pre-game warm up routine
  • Once injuries have recovered, use heat and massage to help remodel tissue & promote faster healing
  •  Do not use heat in acute injury
  •  Do not use after activity, especially if activity has caused pain, swelling or heat
  •  Never use heat where there may inflammation (it will increase blood flow)

The products are absorbed through the skin to help give a local inflammatory effect. Available from Tesco, and all other major supermarkets and pharmacies nationwide.

My Review

I was sent a tube of Deep Heat Heat Rub and also a tube of Deep Freeze see here to test and write a review. I touch wood have no aches or pains at the moment but well my Hubby has a bad back and is in pain most of the time no matter what we have tried. so he was the guinea pig for this review lol. He was really interested to see how this worked  and compare Deep Heat to Deep freeze after rubbing the Deep Heat in to his back he said it took a few seconds to feel it but he enjoyed the warm sensation that it gave and not feeling the pain gave him some good relief and i noticed he was more able to stretch and move about better we will keep on using it and see how he gets on.
